Performance Evidence

Evidence is required to be collected that demonstrates a candidate’s competency in this unit. Evidence must be relevant to the roles within this sector’s work operations and satisfy all of the requirements of the performance criteria of this unit and include evidence that the candidate:

locates and applies applicable, documentation, policies and procedures

implements the requirements, procedures and techniques for the safe, effective and efficient completion of control centre operations including:

applying diagnostic techniques and resolves operational problems

accessing, interpreting and applying technical information to production plans

works effectively with others to undertake and complete the control centre operations in a way that meets all of the required outcomes including:

communicating clearly and concisely with others to receive and clarify work instructions

coordinating with other sections, including emergency services, planning and maintenance departments

demonstrates completion of conducting control centre operations that safely, effectively and efficiently meets all of the required outcomes on more than one (1) occasion including:

starting up, controlling and closing down equipment and avoiding damage/spillage and minimising wastage

monitoring and controlling plant processes

maintaining schedules according to current environmental and climate conditions

completing shift control duties

maintaining written records


Knowledge Evidence

The candidate must demonstrate knowledge of the following when conducting control centre operations through:

applying legislative, organisation and site requirements and procedures for:

risk assessment and management

emergency, disaster, safety and security requirements

site and equipment permit and access procedures

identifying site plant and systems configurations, alternative configurations, capacities and limitations

identifying environmental compliance requirements

identifying control centre monitoring and communication systems

using mine geological conditions and survey data and associated operating precautions
